The Toyota Etios Liva will be "competitively priced" and has been positioned in the premium hatchback segment, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. said in a statement.

Toyota Etios Liva had earlier postponed the introduction of the Etios Liva to June from April due to capacity constraints at its factories.

The Etios Liva and the Etios sedan share a common platform. The company introduced the Etios sedan in December last year,Toyota Etios Liva  which received a better-than-expected response. It deferred the introduction of the Etios Liva to make more units of the Etios sedan and to cut long waiting periods for the model.

Suzuki has recently launched the new Maruti Swift in the European market and production has begun in their Hungarian plant. Seeing the rate at which new Maruti Swift are selling in India, the new new Maruti Swiftwould enter the Indian car market by mid-2011. 

The new Maruti Swiftis wider, longer than the current one and it gets some design characteristics of the Suzuki Kizashi, which we expect to come in India by late this year. The new Maruti Swift even though longer, fulfills the criteria of being a sub 4 metre long vehicle. The new Maruti Swift will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and the same 1.3-litre diesel motor.
