The National Film Awards are considered as one the most prominent and oldest film awards in India. The awards were introduced to honor and encourage films that are directed across the country which promote the integration and unity of the nation in cinematic form. The prestigious national awards were established in the year 1954. From 1973, all the award ceremonies were initiated by theDirectorate of Film Festivals.
